My approach

As a therapist, I work primarily psychodynamically - this means that I am keenly interested in the unconscious processes and formative experiences which have helped to create the shape of our current-day lives.  Within this framework, however, I take a bespoke approach with each client, allowing the needs of the individual to guide our work. This may involve bringing together different skills and modalities to best assist you in reaching your goals for personal growth.

I am experienced in providing both short-term and long-term therapy, covering a range of issues with a straightforward style.  I offer weekly face-to-face sessions (including early morning and late evening availability), as well as FaceTime/Skype sessions. I also have availability on Saturdays.

My qualifications and experience

Following on from a twenty year career in social services, I went on to complete my Master's degree in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Regent’s University. I have worked extensively with trauma and abuse, anxiety, relationship issues, gender, sexuality and reproductive issues (including infertility, pregnancy, bereavement), and have a strong interest in expat/immigrant/trans-cultural issues.

I continue to undertake professional development on an ongoing basis, including recent areas of working with: trauma, couples, the immigrant/refugee experience, suicidality, Transactional Analysis, EFT, mindfulness, eating disorders, and clinical assessment.

I have worked for charitable therapy services, as well as conducting corporate wellness seminars.

My philosophy

Humans have an amazing capacity for change. Knowing ourselves is the key to unlocking that capacity. I believe that the most powerful tool a therapist can provide is an authentic and safe relationship to help you through the process of exploring and understanding yourself, and creating lasting change.  I offer a reduced-fee initial consultation meeting to help you decide if I am the right therapist for you.
