My approach

I am an established psychologist and psychotherapist. Working as a Lecturer at The Open University alongside my private practice, my understanding of what is required for long-lasting therapeutic change is substantially informed by research evidence. My clients come with a wide variety of experiences and feelings.

My qualifications and experience

Having studied literature and psychology at degree level, I qualified as a psychotherapist with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Theory and Practice of WPF Therapy/Roehampton University.

I also obtained a PhD in Psychology at Loughborough University and worked subsequently in various research positions.

My philosophy

Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers an environment where we can be listened to and understood in a way we haven’t been before. This is not necessarily an easy or comfortable experience at times, but it does have lasting value as well as therapeutic effect. It is through the process of being listened to and understood that we can remember or re-experience issues and feelings that, without us necessarily realising it, have in a way always been with us. Thus, the dialogue of psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a chance to come to terms with these experiences and make genuine changes in our lives.
